Questions for Lucien

My friend, mentor, and brother.

Richard Prince vibes lol. We were both students of his.

He told me he was going to call Studio “Share Feed”. I don’t know how far he got with that. I like Studio better.

I will always look up to Lucien as a standard for what it means to be a true Artist. He made me a better artist than I was before I met him. He was always motivating me to never give up and keep trying, but he was also constantly sending me images, references, and the work of his heroes. Teaching me how to see, and informing me how to improve my process. He’d call me to his office and give me homework. I’d send him pictures constantly trying to get his approval, to get him to say “yes”.

There will always be a bit of Lucien, light, in all the art that I make.

I’m the eldest of four boys, and I always wanted an older brother.

He was the closest I had to that.

Rest in peace Big Brother.

I’ll keep asking you questions, and do my best to live the answers.

Hey Lucien I have a question. I’m opening up my eyes as I wake up and I feel something. Is this what gets you up out of bed every morning? I hope it’s the same thing. Because when you wake up, that day belongs to you. And I want to own my days just like you. Every day counts, and you didn’t just try to get the big numbers. You made every day feel special, and now all the days thank you for it. I look forward to asking you another question, and I want to show you this
