what we collect, why, and your choices
Version 1.0 — effective July 1, 2026. Ankle LLC, a Maryland limited liability company. This is not legal advice.

Effective date: July 1, 2026

This Policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices when you use aleqth.com, ankle.website, the ANKLE browser extension, and related services (the "Service"). It is part of our Terms of Service.

1. Information we collect

  • Account info: username, email, profile details, and third-party login identifiers (e.g., Google).
  • Usage & device data: features used, requests, approximate location from IP, browser/device type, timestamps, and logs.
  • Payment data: processed by Stripe. We receive limited confirmation data (amount, status, last-4, email). We do not store full card numbers.
  • Extension captures: pages you visit, to give your paired agent memory and context (see §2).
  • Content you submit: posts, uploads, worlds, objects, agent configs, messages.
  • AI interactions: prompts/outputs processed to deliver features, sometimes via third-party AI providers (§4).
  • Cookies/local storage: for sessions, preferences, and basic analytics (§5).

2. Extension captures are private by default

This is core to how ANKLE works: pages captured by the extension go to your own private ledger by default. They are not posted anywhere and never become public unless you open an item and explicitly choose to publish it yourself. The same rule applies to every user — nothing leaves your private ledger unless you authored that choice. You can stop capture at any time by pausing or removing the extension. Do not use capture to collect other people's personal data unlawfully.

3. How we use information

To operate, secure, maintain, and improve the Service; process payments; provide agent memory and personalization; communicate with you; prevent fraud and abuse; comply with law; and develop features. We do not sell your personal information.

4. Third parties we share with

We share limited data with providers who help us run the Service, under obligations to protect it: Stripe (payments), Google (optional sign-in), AI/model providers (to process prompts/outputs), and hosting/infrastructure vendors. We may disclose information to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect rights and safety. In a merger or acquisition, information may transfer as part of the transaction.

5. Cookies & similar technologies

We use cookies and local storage for sessions, preferences, and limited analytics. You can control cookies in your browser; some features may not work without them.

6. Data retention

We keep information as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. You can request deletion (§7); some records may be retained where law or legitimate business needs require.

7. Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or limit certain processing. To make a request, contact alex@aleqth.com. We respond as required by law. You can also manage account data in-Service where available.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security. Protect your credentials and notify us of any suspected compromise.

9. Children

The Service is for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact alex@aleqth.com and we will delete it.

10. U.S. / international

We operate from the United States; using the Service means your information is processed in the U.S. and possibly other countries where our providers operate.

11. Changes

We may update this Policy. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date and, where appropriate, in-Service notice.
